The scientific curriculum of the European senior civil servant includes the subject areas identified by the Patent project and the following experience of the 2nd edition of the course, as revised and redefined also by the Scientific Committee of Experts. The scientific curriculum includes both e-learning and in class components. The e-learning part will last six weeks and will be interactive, with full tutorial assistance to users and interaction via a "forum café" and a "technical forum". The in class section will be highly participative over five days and will be organised around the following five subject areas:

• EU institutions and legal framework
• EU Member States political and legal framework
• Managerial tools and behaviour
• Ethics
• Statistics and economics
• Country-specific insight on institutional and economic issues.

The 4 Country-specific modules that will be delivered will be selected according to the preference expressed by participants in the application form. Applicants may choose among the following countries: France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
